The year 2020 was one of the most difficult years for the entire world in recent memory. With a pandemic that has been ravaging and bringing the world to near shut down, millions have lost their jobs, businesses have collapsed, schools have shut down, public gatherings have been proscribed, and even churches have suspended in-person meetings. Indeed “the days have been evil” with many people infected and some losing their lives. In the midst of these challenges and difficulties, there are uncertainties in the future as we look towards the year 2021.
In the midst of the crisis that is facing the world and the church, the words of Albert Einstein come back to us “in the midst of every crisis, lies great opportunity.” We therefore turn to the words of the Apostle Paul who wrote to the Ephesians and said: “Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men, but as wise, making the most of your time, because the days are evil (Eph. 5:15-16 NASB). Indeed as the apostle Paul said, we need to make “the most of every opportunity” that will come our way in the midst of these challenges. From this we get our Theme for 2021: “Seize the Moment!”
